Love In Action Changes Lives

Digital Wellness

Faithflows focuses on Digital wellness with the aim to ensure we have a healthy relationship where technology is concerned both in our working lives as well as our social lives. Through WordWorks , we have managed to realize the alarming decline of youth well-being correlating with the increase in Smartphone proliferation and social media usage, thereby creating a  safe place for young people to engage and learn online without fear of being bullied or prejudiced.

One ripple effect of the COVID-19 pandemic has been the hit to the economy that left many people jobless, furloughed or taking significant pay cuts as well as making it impossible for other young people to even have anything that can help them and their communities. Hence, the need to have Word works meetings, establishing common themes from the issues  shared and how these issues make people feel by the uncertainty of everything, especially economically, spiritually, physically and emotionally. With the email to solicit feedback, as this will help to air out these issues and build connection amongst the group and with others universally.

  • Through scripture, we can find God’s guidance to good health, as it is considered of high importance. With various bible verses as well we can see God’s rules for good physical, mental, and spiritual health.
  • Word work is going to be facilitated as an open group, welcoming new members virtually in the first session. Everyone is going through something different and we get to discuss topics we can cover ranging from well-being (issues facing the young people), marriage and parental struggles to loss and relationship dynamics.
  • Word works will be attended by a diverse group, but creating a common ground is our aim so as for everyone to feel comfortable sharing their current life challenges (sometimes in great depth) and not be judged. Aiming to create a synergy over time carried over to make the virtual group setting feel organic and comforting.

We aim to work with principles for a high-functioning group, and among these key principles are universality and instillation of hope, through the use of the word). In these emotionally turbulent times, the cohesiveness felt in Word Works can take on new meaning because of the umbrella of uncertainty we are living under. And the need to foster optimism during a global crisis is going to be catapulted to the forefront.

  • Altruism: Encouraging the group to persevere and to believe in themselves, using the word bible verses, giving reference to song lyrics and poems to illustrate the importance of this principle. Cohesion: Word works intended to create a sense of belonging to the group and being understood and accepted. Being able to salute the group with a nickname and using metaphors in each session. There should be joyful and playful moments among the group members, as well as shared moments of despair.
  • Universality: Word works intends to value the importance of recognizing one another, and having little or not at all a sense of not being the only person to feel a certain way.
  • Interpersonal learning input: Word works intended to enable individuals to learn how to present themselves to others. Getting feedback is also vital.
  • Interpersonal learning output: With word works individuals learn how to relate to others. The aim is to have members familiarizing with other group members and with other people outside the group.
  • Guidance: Word works aims to help group members receive helpful, accurate information and therapeutic interventions from professional counselors. By accepting to learn and change as individuals will help break fixed patterns, and by meeting with other people can also be helpful too in a lot of ways.
  • Catharsis: Word works aims to enable the process of learning to cope with and to express emotions. Being honest about various situations they are facing and showing them is important.
  • Self-understanding: With word works every individual should be able to discover and accept previously unknown or unaccepted parts of themselves.
  • Instillation of hope: Works words aims to ensure that change is possible. In as much as people are accustomed to various beliefs and ways, if they believe things will change for the better then definitely they will.
  • Existential factors: Individuals should be taking responsibility for their lives while accepting the good and bad aspects. Also, learning to accept negative emotions as part of life.
  • Self-esteem: Everyone who joins the Word Works is intended to have a sense of being valued by the group and feeling self-confident. Resilience: By being a part of Word works will give every Individual and the group ability to be able to cope with stressful life challenges
  • Epistemic trust: With word works every individual must in the end learn from and trust others. These elements will be encouraged in the Word works meeting:

Checking in on self-care:

Lockdown drastically complicates the goal of maintaining proper self-care. The World Health Organization (WHO) suggested a rise in depression as a result of routines and livelihoods being altered. Of course, standard self-care practices for many quickly fell out of the picture as the pandemic escalated. Circumstances like these push others to get more innovative and imaginative, yet for some they end up suffering as they do not have a clue on what to do. Hence an important issue to talk about in word works.

  • We also get to discuss lessons and skills they can learn and make reference to our existing e-learning platform where they can take part in some of the courses and come back with testimonies after they complete and achieve something. Word work is supposed to be an emotional springboard where people share their strengths and creative ideas, to enable each member’s self-esteem to receive a boost.

Creating much-needed positive connections.

Another important element to consider in word works is the idea of connection provided by social media and how an overconsumption of that medium can actually be detrimental to one’s well-being. That’s especially the case when it comes to ingesting news that often has negative headlines.

  • Members who join in the word works will also learn to encourage others out there facing challenges to also join the Faithflows community as it is safe and they get to see positive stories each day there. At the beginning and end of the session, there is supposed to be sharing of a positive story.
